We feed our pigs on sow and weaner meal or nuts
(about a half a kilo a day each without foraging)
with some flaked maize and or rolled barley
plus root vegetables like carrots and turnip
(potatoes and thier peelings need to be cooked)
and some fruit (they love apples and bananas)
If they are in a big field then they will get a lot of food foraging
for grass and roots so you can reduce the concentrate feed.
Just keep an eye on them and if they are getting
too fat or thin ajust the amount.
They wont eat onions or citrus fruit and somtimes refuse cabbage.
Chocolate is a total no no, it can kill a pig in 30 minutes,
and there are some rules from DEFRA about
what you are not allowed to feed to pigs
(i.e.no meat products kitchen or catering waste).
It costs us roughly £5 a week per pig
