If you are interested in having a pair of pigs it is important you have the
proper facilitiesand are ready for roughly a 10 year commitment.
These pigs can live indoors happily, pigs are very easy to house train,
in fact the last house pig we had didn’t make a mess in the house once
from day one and always asked to go outside,
that beats any cat or dog I have ever known.
However there is nothing a pig likes better, apart from eating and sleeping,
than to dig in the soil, so a secure outdoor area is essential
no less than 20 x 20 feet with a dry shelter. We made our own in timber
(bespoke pig accomodation could possibly be arranged)
also commercial pig arks are readily available,
an area in a back garden is fine as long as they can't escape.
Our pigs get on very well with dogs other animals
and children and it has been reported back to me how much
fun owners dogs are having playing with thier new piglets,
We try to handle them a lot when thier young and get
my children and friends children to play with them too.
Some are so into being tickled that they
will throw themselves over in front of you for a tummy rub
which is totaly irrisistable. Its best to get your piglets at the
earliest age possible as they are easy to transport,
they will bond with you and are easyer to train.
